How can I take photos?
I have so many people ask me how to take photos. Honestly, I could not break it all down in a blog post, there is so much information and I am afraid that I would bore you. There are a million resources on the web from online classes at Lynda.com to creativelive.com. There are a million books from Digital Photography for Dummies to Light and Science and Magic.. Just ask anyone, they will all give you different answers. The problem is that there is too much information, its overwhelming and intimidating.
The most important thing is that you pick up your camera and use it. I would go ahead and shoot it on auto for a while, get the feel of it, get comfortable with it. Learn about the rule of thirds and composition. Then when you are ready, move the settings on your camera to the assisted settings. Check this out: http://lifehacker.com/5814172/basics-of-photography-your-cameras-automatic-and-assisted-settings . This may help you a bit on learning about your camera.
Take your time, have fun, and like I said, just pick up your camera and use it. The more you know about your camera and the functions, the more you will take it with you when you go on that hike, vacation, or just your backyard and you can take some amazing pictures. Go get out there!
